The authencity of the moment

Bond of groomsmen
Friendship, France

There are moments of sadness where all we can do is to sit down and cry.  There are moments of happiness where we laugh until our sides ache.

These are the genuine connections in our lives that cannot be fabricated.

In 5 years time.  What will you remember more?  The times of piling on the make-up to get ready for a job interview?  Or the time when you got your heart broken?  Or the times you vividly recall your closest friend making you laugh hysterically?

Moments in our lives happen all the time.  But just like the ocean, there is a calm before a crescendo appears. This is where the peak of the moment appears.  It makes just yell out with joy, or it makes us grieve making us feel like there is no hope.  Whichever it is, the one thing that resounds in both examples is that there is no other time than now.

The nowness of the moment.  The raw authenticity of these types of moments is what shapes us.  It is the light hitting a dark cave for the first time in a million years.  We remember these moments as we grow.  They become our life experiences and in turn, changes our perspectives.  Sad and gloomy experiences make us think of hope as some sort of unrealistic way of life.  These are the experiences that make us think optimists are crazy and naive.  They just don’t get it!

On the other hand, positive experiences from love and support encourages us.  We believe in hope and that tomorrow is a better day.  The best is yet to come and there are many opportunities to fill up this space in which we call life experience.

There is no good or bad when it comes to moments.  They are nothing more than events in our lives that pop up from time to time to say “Hello, just making sure you’re alive”.

Savour the richness of the moment and all that it has to offer.  What do you have to lose, besides the offer from your best friend in life, which is life itself.
