The serene side of Hong Kong

A path leading into the woods and hills in Hong KongContinuing this week’s feature of the other side of Hong Kong, we now move to the steep hills and woods.

Not as well publicised in tour guides are the hiking trails of hong Kong.  There are many trails along Kowloon, Hong Kong and Lantau islands for people to get into nature.

During my exploration of different photography locations, I discovered the tracks that run along East Kowloon Island into forests and leading up to the steep hills.  At the peak of these hills, it is possible to see a beautiful vista of the bays and city.  Even the smog adds to the magic of the scenery.

The best times to go are either early in the morning or late afternoons to catch the sunrise or sunset.  Precautions should be taken though especially if a hill climb is required and the path may be slippery.

Never one to rest on my laurels after discovering one location, I’m looking forward to exploring locations on other islands to photograph for myself and of course, for the couples who wish for something different.
